Laser Cutter

The library hosts a bi-monthly training to create laser cut files. Once you've completed the training, you may make an appointment to use the machines with staff assistance.

Proofgrade materials are made specifically for our laser cutter and are recommended. You can purchase from us or buy specific materials here.

Laser cutter can engrave organic material under 1” and cut through material under ¼”. The max printable area is 11” by 19.5”. Acceptable materials include hard wood, leather, etc. Users should know what kind of material they have purchased and whether it’s been treated or not. It is highly encouraged to speak with library staff prior to buying materials for the laser cutter.

We will not accept cork, PVC, or plywood that is not Proofgrade. We will also not accept items that we do not know exactly what the make up of the product is.

Pop Up Makerspace

Our Makers' Lab is on the go! The Pop Up Makerspace allows our Makers' Lab to be shared with students in Hays CISD. Items in the Pop Up Makerspace can be used in the Makers' Lab but availability may vary.
