Now you can enjoy nature’s beauty in your yard while preserving nature’s resources. Hays County Master Naturalist, Jackie Mattice, will give you the scoop on the wonders of xeric native plants which are low maintenance -- and once established, use little water. Get useful information and valuable tips on over 25 native plants that can be grown in Hays County. They are naturally adapted to our temperature and moisture extremes. This is an excellent opportunity to learn how to create a lovely xeric garden and become a water wise gardener. A helpful handout sheet will also include deer resistance information.
Jackie Mattice brings her love of the natural world along with years of teaching middle and high school science to this presentation. In addition to being a Hays Country Master Naturalist, she is a docent for the Lady Bird Wildflower Center. She holds a BS in Biology from the University of North Carolina and an MA in Teaching from Duke University.
